How to be a Goddess Sarah Nestler 9781620245019 Books Reviews
My Thoughts - 4 out of 5 unicorns - I really liked it!!
**Received the book from the author's mom for an honest review.
The frosty cover is beautiful. I have a few things to say before I talk about the book. I love that Tena, Sarah's mom, supports her fully. I see kids everyday and that's all they want is the full support of their parents. Kids, who get the full support of their parents, succeed more, and this is backed up with all sorts of data. I will let you look this up if you do not believe me. ;)
I am also amazed because this story was written when Sarah was 12 and 13. It is well written because I know my 12 year old can't write like this at all. She is now in high school, and I try to support any high school student whether mine or not ) You did a fantastic job Sarah!!
I really like mythology so from the start I liked the idea of this story. It is sort of how mythology changes a real world girl who fights it kicking and screaming the whole way because she wants to keep her normal ordinary life. How would you feel if you were kidnapped from high school by Hades, Lord of the Underworld?? Katla handles it much better than me because I would have freaked out.
I really like Katla's character because she is a spit fire, and I love when the main character can kick butt and take names. She doesn't let anyone push her around even Zeus. I also really like several of the other Gods' personalities like Zeus, Apollo, and Hephaestus. There are a few who were very arrogant and thought they were better than everybody which reminds me of a few high school kids. In fact, everything that happened at Mount Olympus reminded me of high school drama which always makes me chuckle. I wish it had more action. This is the only thing that I think would make it better. There is a lot of action at the end which was great.
I will definitely be following Sarah to see how she continues to grow as an author.
I recommend this book to all those readers who love mythology and love supporting young authors.
I truly loved this book. I could not believe that this was written by a teenager. The book is captivating and imaginative. It is great for both guys and girls as it is filled with tons of action and adventure, but also follows the relationship between the main characters. Sarah has a great sense of plot and humor and can grasp the attention of any reader. I only have one request... Publish more!!!!! I want to know what happens next. Amazing read and I will definitally be reading it again and agaian and again.
We received this story in exchange for an honest review. How To Be A Goddess is a story about Katla, a young girl who awakes in a new world after running through the hall and running into a strange man. My niece and I read this story together as part of her summer reading. This story grabbed our attention from the start and held us to the very end. My niece insisted on continuing reading this book until she had completed it. She was so drawn into the story that she said she couldn't stop reading until she new what was going to happen and how it would all end. We would highly recommend this story to any reader looking for a fun, quick read.
This is a story of Katla, an orphan 16 year old girl, not many friends, except for her best friend Riley. Katla is kidnapped by Hades and turned into a goddess, and soon finds out that Riley is in fact the god Apollo. She meets Zeus, Ares, Aphrodite, and the other gods and goddesses, as she struggles to learn and control her new powers, controlling ice.
It's a good, cute, kind of a coming-of-age story and was well written and easy to read. The unlikely camaraderies and surprising enemies Katla forms in such a short time keep the story interesting, as well as her denial of a soon-blooming love.
To start off, this was an easy read, it was fast, exciting, and very well written. I loved the story line!
I'm curious to know if this will be a series because she could add so much to it!
It was so amazing how well she did the Greek culture. I loved in the end how she gave you a list of the Greek terms, the Greek names and their meanings.
I loved Katla, she was so strong willed, sarcastic, funny, and all around awesome, she could hold her own and didn't want to be told different.
Apollo, He was always there for her, he loved her but never pushed it on her, he was very protective, jealous, cocky, obnoxious, but all around great to her and great for her.
I wish the story lasted longer, but it was amazing anyway, I want a signed copy no lie, this chick is a great role model for all kids/adults that want to be an author, as she has shown it doesn't matter your age, you can pursue your dreams!
If I could recommend this book I would recommend to everyone. It was Sarah's very first book and man, did she do it right!
Sarah, you are an amazing author, I'm so happy that you started so young and can continue to strive in your amazing works. I hope the best for you and I'm so very happy you gave me the opportunity to read your book!
